MUSCAT, 21 March 2012 – BankMuscat, the flagship financial institution in the Sultanate, on Wednesday (21 March 2012) launched a customised Certified Public Accountant (CPA) programme for staff under the auspices of H.E. Hamoud bin Sangour Al Zadjali, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman. Present at the launch ceremony were H.E. J.S. Mukul, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate, Dr. AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive of BankMuscat, and dignitaries.
The customised CPA programme is designed and conducted by Grey Matter Academics, India (GMA) in association with Safety Technical Services Co, their authorised representative in the Sultanate.
H.E. Hamoud bin Sangour Al Zadjali said: “I congratulate BankMuscat for launching the customised CPA programme for staff. The initiative reflects a strong commitment by the bank to provide world class training and development opportunities for staff. The banking sector in Oman has achieved over 92 per cent Omanisation and is poised to further increase the percentage of national workforce equipped with professional qualifications.”
Dr. AbdulRazak Ali Issa said: “BankMuscat is proud to introduce the customised CPA programme for staff. The Bank remains committed to the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to accord priority for the development of human resources and for a qualitative shift in national workforce, thereby providing more career growth opportunities for the youth by strengthening their talents and increasing their participation in the comprehensive development march.”
Ganesh Vaideeswaran, Director, Grey Matter Academics, remarked: “This is a memorable milestone in the history of Grey Matter Academics to launch the customised programme for the staff of BankMuscat. The people learning and development strategies of BankMuscat are integrated with its overall strategies. The Bank has achieved qualitative advance in the human resources sector as it attracts the best Omani cadres for employment at all levels. The Bank has succeeded tremendously in this respect as in 2001 there were only six Omani graduates and 150 diploma holders, compared to the 2011 figures of 1,296 Omanis with Master's degree, 464 with Bachelor's degree and 1,131 with diploma certificates, in addition to others with post-graduate certificates.
The Learning and Development programmes follow modern systems and techniques and takes into account the future plans and programmes of each department of the Bank. It seeks to provide all types of training courses that meet the overall requirements as per the latest standards either in the Sultanate or abroad.
