Bank Muscat extends strong support to ROP’s Shore Safety Seminar

MUSCAT, 20 November 2019

Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, has extended its strong support to the two-day Shore Safety Seminar, which was organised by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) in Sur recently. The event was held under the auspices of Maj Gen Hamed bin Sulaiman al Hatmi, Assistant Inspector General of Royal Oman Police, at the Sur Holiday Resort. The seminar was attended by a number of Bank Muscat officials, a wide spectrum of security management professionals and senior officials from the government as well as banking, hospitality and oil and gas sectors.

The seminar covered a number of important security-related topics including threat analysis, improving building safety and security systems in public utilities, identifying security risks and their impact on those utilities, and crisis management in public utilities. The seminar also covered practical topics like the challenges faced by security guards at public utilities as well as how to conduct security inspections and plan for emergencies properly. A Safety & Security Exhibition was also held along the side-lines of the two-day seminar.

The bank’s active participation in the seminar is a continuation of its policy of using cutting-edge technology to further enhance banking convenience and ease of use while at the same enhancing security for all its stakeholders, particularly customers. The bank continues to support efforts by the Royal Oman Police to implement best security practices in the public and private sectors.

Bank Muscat offers innovative technology-driven banking products and services, especially electronic payment and web-based services, in tune with Oman moving towards cashless transactions. The bank’s online and mobile banking platforms have been upgraded significantly, resulting in an increase in active users. Hence, security of all transactions is of the highest priority to the bank.

Bank Muscat plays a systemically-important role in supporting the National Economy through its various activities and contributions. The bank has been part of a number of anti-fraud awareness campaigns in the past whereby the bank has sought to educate and sensitise the general public with information that will enable them to easily recognise fraudulent practices. Bank Muscat’s currently ongoing anti-fraud campaign in partnership with ROP aims to educate the general public to always verify who it is they are dealing with before doing a transaction as well follow digital safety best practices.
