Bank Muscat FIFA World Cup social media campaign gains momentum

MUSCAT, 07 April 2014  – The social media contest launched by Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in association with Visa, as part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ promotion has entered the second phase offering attractive prizes for winners. The 'Play the Ball' contest is open for the general public and all Bank Muscat followers on Facebook. Registration is mandatory to participate in the competition.

Participants are required to submit video clips of themselves, friends or family members dribbling a soccer ball for no more than 1 minute (60 seconds). The person in the video clip must be wearing his favorite team jersey or colours. Those interested in participating  in the contest can visit www.facebook.com/bankmuscat and follow 'Play the Ball' tab to submit the video clip.

Each participant can submit only one video clip per week. Only videos sent from registered users will be uploaded onto the voting board. Participants can mobilise support and invite friends and family to vote for their video clips. Videos with the maximum likes at the cut off time will win 2014 FIFA World Cup™ themed prepaid card with a credit of RO 100.

The contest cut-off time is at 12 noon every Tuesday. Participants have one week to garner as many votes as possible. Participants who wish to take part every week must resubmit their video as previous votes will not be considered.

Only residents of Oman are eligible to participate in the contest. The campaign rationale is to motivate and engage the general public in 2014 FIFA World Cup™ activities.

As part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ campaign activities, the bank has created a miniature football field for the public to participate and enjoy various activities. The miniature field will be located at Muscat City Center on 10 and 11 April from 4 to 9.30 pm. The activities include a puzzle game in which two teams can compete to solve the puzzle within a timeframe and win attractive prizes.
