MUSCAT, 23 April 2017 – Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its 'Let's Do More' vision and 'Imprints' initiative to support youth and promote Oman as a sporting nation, celebrated the inauguration of the 34th football field developed as part of the Green Sports initiative for Al Hilal Sports Team in the wilayat of Nakhal in South Batinah governorate. H.E Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Sibani, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Radio and Television, was the guest of honour at the ceremony attended by dignitaries and senior bank officials.
H.E Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Sibani congratulated Bank Muscat for the success achieved by the greening initiative. H.E Al Sibani said: “The Green Sports initiative complements the government efforts in building a sporting nation by providing the youth the required modern infrastructure facilities. The initiative benefiting communities, especially youth, contributes to sustainable development, thereby ensuring all-round development in Oman."
Addressing the gathering, Ibrahim Al Ajmi, Deputy Regional Manager – South Batinah, reiterated the bank's support to Oman's youth who represent the future of Oman. True to its commitment to supporting varied sporting activities in the country, Bank Muscat remains at the forefront in offering the required encouragement and support to youth. Committed to its 'Let's Do More' vision for the community and the nation, the bank aims to lead the way in contributing to sustainable development in Oman with various initiatives."
Abdulrahim bin Sulaiman Al Zeddy, President of Al Hilal Sports Team, said: “We are thankful to Bank Muscat for the Green Sports initiative, which has made vital contributions to creating an environment encouraging Omani sports talents. The unique programme is a big support for the country's youth and we are confident that many youngsters will benefit from this and become sporting heroes for the country."
The Green Sports initiative launched by Bank Muscat in 2012 has gained momentum with a total of 63 teams across the Sultanate benefiting from the support till date. Marking the sixth year of the unique CSR initiative, the bank will support the development of 15 football fields in 2017.
The 2017 Green Sports programme has evoked big response as 86 sports teams have applied seeking support for greening and infrastructure development of football fields. The Green Sports committee is presently reviewing the applications following field visits to short-list the 2017 Green Sports beneficiaries.
