In execution of the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to accord proper attention to development of human resources, which is considered the real wealth for any nation, BankMuscat, the flagship financial institution in the Sultanate, continues to record achievements and successes in the field of human resources, which have had a favourable impact on the performance of the Bank.
BankMuscat prides itself on achieving more than 93 per cent Omanisation until 31 December 2011 and has plans to enhance this percentage during 2012 by attracting more Omani cadres in different departments.
BankMuscat accords top priority to training aspects of employees through proper implementation of a strategy approved by the Bank's Board of Directors. The specialised training programmes and courses are aimed at developing the skills of employees and enhancing their work experience in different aspects of banking operations. The Bank has achieved impressive figures in this respect. For example, 239 employees were enrolled for different courses, of which 102 successfully completed their studies. Additionally, the Bank also offered educational support to 628 employees to enable them to pursue university and higher education as per the Educational Assistance Programme, of whom some 150 employees have successfully completed their studies.
As part of the programme for granting scholarships, the Bank also offered overseas scholarships for higher studies for 27 employees, with 22 of them having already completed their studies and. The Bank has also supported 289 employees to pursue different specialisations at the College of Banking and Financial Studies. More than 100 students (male and female) have graduated so far and some of them are now working with the Bank. The Bank remains committed to the implementation of Omanisation and training programme during the coming period.
The human resources strategy adopted by the Bank has contributed to its growth over the years and the realisation of several achievements, including the leading position in the banking sector in the Sultanate. The Bank accords top priority to His Majesty the Sultan's directives aimed at the development of human resources and offers its employees development opportunities and appropriate positions of responsibility at all levels besides constant focus on the development and honing of skills to enable them to perform their roles efficiently and professionally.
