Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, in line with its vision ’To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnership in promoting community activities, participated in two qaranqasho celebrations as part of its special events for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Bank Muscat sponsored a grand qaranqasho celebration at Al Araimi Boulevard where children turned out in large numbers and enjoyed singing qaranqasho and taking part in the activities organised for them. Bank employees joined the celebrations and presented gifts and sweets to the children at the event.
The bank also joined hands with Muscat Municipality for a qaranqasho celebration at Muscat Grand Mall. The celebrations included a variety of exciting activities and games, during which the bank presented attractive gifts and sweets to the children. The Bank also used the event to create awareness about the children’s savings account and conducted a children’s draw during the event when 50 lucky winners won 50 prizes RO 100 each.
Bank Muscat's children’s account is designed to give special benefits to the account holder and it also helps parents to start the habit of saving early for their children. The children’s accounts are eligible for exclusive monthly draws with 40 children winning a monthly prize of RO 100 each if they maintain a minimum balance of RO 50. Every month, the bank also rewards another 10 lucky account holders whose birthday falls in that month with RO 100 each.
The qaranqasho celebration is traditionally held on the night before the 15th day of Ramadan and is aimed at rewarding children for successfully fasting during the first half of the month and also to encourage them to continue through the second half.
Dressed in traditional costumes, children visit their neighbourhood homes singing qaranqasho songs and collect sweets. The celebrations help the children to develop a community bonding and grow up as responsible citizens who play their role in further progress and development of the country. The bank also organised a qaranqasho celebration at Hafri Al Sahil village in the wilayat of Barka as part of its CSR activities during the Holy Month.
Bank Muscat has lined up a series of programmes to benefit different sections of society during Ramadhan including Tadhamun, Ramadhan Souqs for start-ups, a visit to Oman Aquarium by children with special needs in addition to its existing and highly-successful CSR programmes like Green Sports and Jesr al Mustaqbal
The annual al Wathbah Ramadhan Souq organised jointly by Bank Muscat and Riyada at the Bank’s Head Office from May 9-11 evoked a strong response with thousands of visitors thronging the stalls. Bank Muscat najahi and Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) also joined hands to organise a four-day exhibition for small businesses at the Nizwa Grand Mall from May 23 to 26. The Bank’s Tadhamun initiative saw volunteers from the Bank travel to governorates across the sultanate to deliver basic household electronic devices to over 170 social welfare families as a means of helping them focus their resources on quality of life and education of their children.
