Muscat, 7 May 2019
Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnership in banking convenience, has launched a special promotion for Bank Muscat debit cardholders to make payments using their debit cards at Shell Service Stations. The promotion, which will run until June 30, 2019, aims to bring awareness to the growing number of point of sale (PoS) machines at Shell Service Stations and also help promote digital payment channels, especially debit cards.
The Bank has invited all its debit card holders to pay for their fuel using their Bank Muscat debit cards at Shell Service Stations in order to be eligible for the draw. Every month, five hundred lucky winners who use their Bank Muscat debit cards will be able to win cashback equivalent to the payment made for that particular transaction, which is chosen in the lucky draw.
Amjad Iqbal Al Lawati, AGM - Cards & eBanking, Bank Muscat, said: “Bank Muscat is a pioneer in introducing digital banking solutions. In step with the developments in digitalisation, the bank’s strategy is to help its customers keep pace with these developments and optimise performance. Digital solutions are playing a bigger role in the development of the economy today. Businesses have gone digital covering a wide range of activities from marketing to supply chain to finance management. This shift to digital has immense benefits for corporates and the economy, notably efficiency, cost reduction, accountability, speed and scalability. Digitalisation is no longer an option but a change which all institutions have to start implementing. With a number of innovative online banking and technology developments, Bank Muscat is in a position to address the complete payment requirements of organisations of any size.”
Providing the ‘best in class’ service, Bank Muscat continues to invest in cutting edge IT infrastructure, latest PoS terminals and competent human resources available in the payments industry. Bank Muscat currently provides a range of dynamic payment solutions, including Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale (EFTPOS) systems at Shell Service Stations for acceptance of all debit and credit cards.
One of the unique aspects of the facility is the use of ATEX certified wireless card terminals at Shell Service Stations in Oman. The bank’s ability and flexibility to adapt, innovate and provide customised payment solutions is unique, changing the customer payment behaviour from ‘cash to digital’. Bank Muscat commenced card acquiring operations in 2002 and since then has crossed many milestones to become the largest acquirer and issuer of cards in Oman.
