Muscat, 22 May 2019
Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, in line with its vision ’To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnership in promoting community activities, organised a qaranqasho celebration at Hafri Al Sahil village in the wilayat of Barka as part of its special events for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Children turned out in large numbers and enjoyed singing qaranqasho and taking part in the activities organised for them. Bank employees and volunteers joined the celebrations and presented gifts and sweets to all the children at the event.
The qaranqasho celebration is traditionally held on the night before the 15th day of Ramadan and is aimed at rewarding children for successfully fasting during the first half of the month and also to encourage them to continue through the second half.
Dressed in traditional costumes, children visit their neighbourhood homes singing qaranqasho songs and collect sweets. The celebrations help the children to develop a community bonding and grow up as responsible citizens who play their role in further progress and development of the country.
Bank Muscat has lined up a series of programmes to benefit different sections of society during the Holy Month of Ramadhan including Tadhamun, Ramadhan Souqs for start-ups, a visit to Oman Aquarium by children with special needs in addition to its existing and highly-successful CSR programmes like Green Sports and Jesr al Mustaqbal
The annual Ramadhan Souq organised jointly by Bank Muscat and Riyada at the Bank’s Head Office from May 9-11 evoked a strong response with thousands of visitors thronging the 151 stalls put up by Omani entrepreneurs.
The Bank also joined hands with Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) to organise a four-day exhibition for small businesses at the Nizwa Grand Mall from May 23 to 26. The exhibition aimed at providing small businesses based in Nizwa and the neighbouring wilayats in the interior of the country, an opportunity to showcase and sell their products and services during the month of Ramadan.
The Ramadhan Souqs organised by the Bank jointly with different partners aim at providing a platform for the participants to promote their products and services through the various communication efforts of all the partners.
The Bank’s sixth annual Tadhamun initiative, which was completed earlier this month, saw volunteers from the Bank travel to governorates across the sultanate to deliver basic household electronic devices to over 170 social welfare families as a means of helping them focus their resources on quality of life and education of their children.
Since its inception, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department of the flagship financial services provider in Oman has taken major strides in nurturing a socially responsible culture in the Bank. All CSR programmes draw from the bank’s values of leadership and partnership, creating a positive impact on society.
