BankMuscat holds training programme

BankMuscat has conducted six-day training programme on analysis and interpretation of financial statements at Mercure Al Falalj Hotel, recently. The programme, prepared and delivered by Ernst & Young, was attended by accounts relationship managers of the bank.
The purpose of the programme was to enable managers handling corporate borrowing relationships understand the nature of financial statements, underlying assumptions, principles, tools and techniques of financial analysis, application and interpretation of such tools for various decision making processes.
Accurate analysis of balance-sheet, correct interpretation thereof assumes importance in forming a judgment about the financial strength weakness and probability of defaults of a business enterprise and therefore, is crucial to lending decisions.
Ahmed M. Al Abri, general manager for banking, addressed the participants at the conclusion of the programme. He explained that the bank attaches a great deal of importance to improving the skills of staff members through professional training courses. He also highlighted the reliance placed by banks on the financial data of an organization in the lending process and the need for professional analysis and interpretation of such data to arrive at prudent lending decisions.
