MUSCAT, 5 May 2010 - Dr Muna Bint Salem Al Jardania, Under-Secretary for Education and Curriculum at the Ministry of Education, will inaugurate an exhibition titled ‘Now the Door is Open’ on 10 May at Bait Al Baranda, organised by BankMuscat to showcase the outcome of its Business Incubator Project. The exhibition will feature photography, greeting cards and beauty products developed by women participants during the Business Incubator programme.

The BankMuscat Business Incubator initiative is the first of its kind in the private sector, aimed at helping women and providing support to enhance their economic, social and cultural status through supplementary income. Creating job opportunities, the programme is targeted at housewives and mothers, but priority is given to women with low income.

The incubator provides training workshops on how to set up and manage small business ventures in the fields of services and handicrafts. The project started with support extended to women in the Governorate of Muscat. Located in Sidab village, the incubator benefited women from Muscat, Haramel, Bustan, Sidab and Takyah areas.  The experience of Sidab Women’s Group in finding a fixed income through business at home is being used to motivate women undergoing the incubator programme. The upcoming stages of the programme will target women in Batinah, Sharqiyah  and Dhofar regions.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 to 19 May 2010, 9am – 1pm and 4-6pm, Sunday to Thursday.
