Muscat, March 4, 2008: BankMuscat (SAOG), the leading financial services provider in Oman, hosted the launch of the book “In search of the sublime: A journey through Oman”, which showcases the natural beauty of Oman through the eyes of Dr Khaled AbdulMalak, a reputed oral surgeon who has been living in Oman for more than a decade. It is worth mentioning that the Bank sponsored “In search of the sublime: A journey through Oman” in line with its efforts to participate in boosting the tourism sector in the country.
The launch was held under the auspices of The Minister of Tourism, HE Dr Rajiha bint Abdul Ameer, and was attended by distinguished guests and government officials as well as the senior management of the Bank. Speaking on the occasion, AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive, BankMuscat said:
“ It is in keeping with the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said that the tourism sector, under the guidance Ministry of Tourism, has been playing a key role in the diversification and development of the national economy.
While the Government has taken, and continues to take, significant steps to boost the tourism sector in the country, we, at BankMuscat, view our participation in such projects as an opportunity to do two things: support the Government’s efforts to profile the beauty of our beloved country and also express individual our pride and happiness of being part of the great nation. ”
“In search of the sublime” explores the varying terrains of the Sultanate, from plains and wadis to mountains and the sandy stony deserts to the rich diverse landscape that divides the country naturally into distinct regions, each with its own identity have been captured in beautiful photographs by Dr Khaled AbdulMalak. The intricately crafted maps will ensure that a seasoned traveler and explorer is sure to find his way to the intended destination. The book has been written in both English and French, and BankMuscat has been instrumental in supporting this initiative of Dr Khaled in showcasing the many wonders of Oman to the people of Oman as well as those traveling to Oman in search of exploring the many treasures that the Sultanate has to offer.
