Muscat, 18 January 2009: BankMuscat, the leading financial institution in the Sultanate of Oman, on Sunday announced a cash bonanza of RO 250,000 to the national football team for charting a glorious new beginning for Oman football. Showering praises on the team for its stellar performance in winning the 19th GCC Football Cup Championship, BankMuscat conveyed deep appreciation to Oman football heroes for lifting the national honour to new highs.
“This is the happiest moment in the history of Oman football when the whole nation erupts in joy as one family. As the Sultanate celebrates the conquest of the pinnacle of football glory in the region, BankMuscat joins the nation in saluting our heroes who scripted a spectacular success story by overcoming unformidable challenges. The third time lucky team clearly demonstrated that they earned the laurels purely due to the grit and determination consistently reflected during the championship,” Shaikh Khalid bin Mustahail al Mashani, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, BankMuscat, said.
