Our Mission: To equip the bank’s Human Resources with the competencies that enable them to achieve the bank’s business objectives by continuously improving customer service and productivity.
- Learners Community and the
The quality of learning programs delivered is developed to match with the growing operational complexity and technological innovations in the banking industry.
Our members of the learning faculty are highly qualified seasoned practical bankers with academic background. This choice of faculty enables the right balance between theory and practice of banking in all our programs.
To supplement the core trainers, a vibrant team of over 70 subject-matter experts are drawn from the line managers of the bank in order to provide the much needed depth and variety to the learning presentations focused at developing functional competencies.
State-of-the-art learning facilities, amongst the best in the banking industry in the GCC, spacious and furnished to create the ambience for a memorable learning environment.
It comprises of:
3 classrooms, 2 syndicate rooms, Computer Lab, English Language Lab, Library at L&D Centre at HO.
L&D facilities at the Regional Offices in Central Capital, North Capital, South Batinah, North Batinah, Dhofar, Al Dhakhliya, two in Al Sharqiya (Sur & Ibra), and two in Al Dhahira (Buraimi & Ibri).
The Computer Labs in these centres are an exact replica of the live system used for customer service delivery at our branches. This adds a touch of realism which is as close to real life working as possible.

- Educational Assistance Scheme (EAS)
The bank provides the most flexible and employee-friendly sponsorship scheme. This scheme enables a growing number of employees to complete their further studies with peace of mind. Over 290 employees are currently sponsored and 100 have already graduated.
- College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS)
The bank offers full sponsorship of tuition fees for eligible employees to various undergraduate programs at the College of Banking and Financial Services (CBFS).
Over 265 employees have been sponsored and over 50 have already graduated. The bank also offers sponsorship to the wards of office assistants.
- Professional Certification Scheme
bank muscat encourages employees in specialized banking areas to benchmark their professional competency with international standards by pursuing professional qualifications.
Examples of professional certifications include CIMA Islamic Banking Diplomas, Certified Documentary Specialist (CDCS), various ACI Certificates and Diplomas in Treasury, Visa Business School Awards, Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), International Compliance Diploma (ICA), Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE), etc.

Institute of Management Development (IMD), Switzerland is amongst the leading executive education providers and bank muscat has been a Partner member of the IMD’s Corporate Learning Network (CLN) since 1st September 2008.
The Corporate Learning Network includes 23 Partners from amongst the world’s leading organizations. bank muscat is one of the two banks worldwide and the first and the only bank from the Gulf region.

The local business community has recognized the bank’s efforts by the People Development and Best Employer in Oman Awards.
International accolades include Best Employer Award in Asia, Investor in People Award and People Capability Maturity Model.
- People Capability Maturity Model
bank muscat has achieved a global first by receiving the People-CMM Level 3 award by the Software Engineering Institute of the Carnegie Melon University, USA.
This award places the bank with an elite group of organizations such as IBM, Boeing, BAE Systems, Ericsson, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell and Tata Consultancy Services, which have adopted the model as the benchmark for human resources process improvements.
This accreditation entailed a lengthy and rigorous audit process that evaluated 13 process areas, which covered 291 practices and over 3000 documents in all areas of HR and L&D.
- Partnership to IMD’s Cooperate Learning Network

since 1st September 2008.
The Corporate Learning Network includes 23 Partners from amongst the world’s leading organizations.

This membership gives employees access to vast array of learning resources.
The bank hosts one of the largest and most comprehensive Banking and Management libraries in the country. Resources provided include 1,401 titles, 311 CDs/DVDs, 387 business magazines/journals and 110 Audio/Video Cassettes.
- Summer Training & Internship
bank muscat is the largest provider of internship opportunities in the
country to college and university students.
The program is devised to enable students to develop a professional outlook by exposure to the work environment and to develop interest in the banking profession.
This initiative comes as part of the bank’s commitment to be the pioneering socially responsible organization in the country.
Number of students benefiting steadily increased from 540 students in 2007 to 844 students in 2011.
