BankMuscat Private Banking sponsors art exhibition of George Lewis and Enaam Al Lawati in Bait Muzna Gallery

Muscat. 9 February 2008: BankMuscat Private Banking, the leading provider of private banking services in the Sultanate of Oman, in co-operation with Bait Muzna Gallery, is organising a joint art exhibition by the two famous artists, George Lewis, the well established British artist, and Enaam Al Lawati, a young talented Omani artist inspired by ancient Arabic civilization.

The opening of this art exhibition was inaugurated by AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive, BankMuscat on Wednesday 6th February 2008. The exhibition was very well appreciated by the Bank’s customers who were enthralled at the richness of the Omani art on display.

Speaking on the occasion, AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive, BankMuscat said:

“We are delighted to be associated with this exhibition that showcases Oman’s natural heritage through the eyes of international as well as local artists - Lewis and Enaam. I would like to thank Bait Muzna Gallery for providing BankMuscat with such an opportunity and we look forward to continuing this relationship.”

George Lewis has returned to Oman after a very successful show in Muscat last year to evoke a dialogue between man and his environment. From conventional oil painting and water colours to digital montage and photography, Lewis seeks to stimulate a debate on the nature and environment in order to capture his subject matter.

In her paintings, Enaam Al Lawati uses clay to sculpt stamps, depicting scenes from the lives of primitive people, which were related to old civilizations.

BankMuscat Private Banking has recently adopted art in its different forms to encourage its clients to collect different pieces of art, as it believes that art, as an investment class, is today amongst the most exciting worldwide, with art-auction houses reporting record prices. It is worth mentioning that last year Private Banking has organised its Annual Dinner at Grand Hyatt that included for the first time, a special exhibition of paintings by famous Omani painters including Maryam Abdul Kareem Al Zadjali, Saleem Sakhi Al Balushi, Hilal Mohammed Al Harthy and Saleh Juma Al Shukairi. Private Banking also hosted an exhibition of Manav Gupta's paintings at the Omani Society for Fine Arts in August 2007.

BankMuscat Private Banking is an exclusive and personalised wealth management service, which brings high net worth customers the benefit of global expertise to serve their financial needs locally. The Private Banking Division was established primarily to offer customers unique, knowledgeable and comprehensive financial solutions from experienced financial professionals. BankMuscat Private Banking offers a range of services that are definitely unique in Oman. These services include; ‘Investment Services’ where the customer gets opportunities to invest in Oman, GCC, India or across the globe in Bonds, Equities, Hedge Funds, Private Equity or Structured products, and ‘Trust and Fiduciary Services’ for financial and tax planning, safeguarding and protecting assets, providing family security and support, and inheritance and wealth transfer planning that preserves wealth for future generations.

Bait Muzna Gallery recognizes that contemporary art is an essential indicator of the state and progress of a society. As Oman continues to develop and open up to international business and tourism, Omani art and artists are set to benefit from this increased exposure. A main goal of Bait Muzna Gallery is to provide an accessible and welcoming venue to showcase these talents. Bait Muzna Gallery is originally the home of a member of the Omani Royal Family. The traditionally styled house was renovated for use as an art gallery in 1999, opening its doors in January, 2000.
