BankMuscat Al Mazyona Children’s Account
Draw Winners Announced

Muscat, 22 January, 2008: The winners of BankMuscat’s al Mazyona Children’s Account for December were picked out in a draw held recently by kindergarten students of the Azaan Bin Qais Private School.

The ten young children who drew the names of the winners were thrilled at the presence of BankMuscat officials in their school premises. All the more since the brightly colored al Mazyona Children’s bus parked close by sparked their curiosity to take a look inside.

Speaking on the occasion, Sulaiman H Al Harthy, DGM-Consumer Banking, said,

The al Mazyona children’s account has been gaining momentum as people are steadily starting to appreciate the wealth of benefits that the account offers. We at BankMuscat believe it is our responsibility to help incorporate the savings habit amongst parents who wish to provide their children with a secure future. We hope these incentive encourage more parents and guardians to participate in this scheme, which the bank has initiated to help build a stronger foundation for the children of the Sultanate”.

The al Mazyona Children’s Account ensures that the children of the account holder enjoy a whole range of benefits, starting from the time the account is opened till he/she turns 18. If a minimum balance of RO 50 is maintained in the al Mazyona Children’s account the account holder is eligible to participate in a special monthly draw where 10 children’s account holders get the chance to win RO 100 each. Additionally they can also participate in the ongoing al Mazyona scheme draws and stand to win RO 20,000 every week and every month and RO 100,000 every second month.

The savings plan also provides for a school continuity cover so that account holders can ensure that their children's education would continue uninterrupted till the age of 18. BankMuscat has committed to pay RO 100 per month as part of this cover should something unfortunate occur during that period to the parents of the child. An interest free education loan is also obtainable to parents so as to facilitate higher education for their children when they turn 18. This loan will be linked to the tenure and annual average balance maintained by the parent in the specific al Mazyona Children’s account.

Children also get a unique branded ‘Super Card’ personalized in their name, when they open an al Mazyona Children’s account, which allows them to avail of fantastic discounts and offers at a variety of merchant establishments including fast food parlours, toy stores, book stores, amusement parks and much more.

Additional features of the account include a free ATM card, with which a child can deposit money into their account through any of the Bank’s cash deposit machines (EasyDeposit) nationwide. Parents can use this account to pay their children’s school fees through the EasyDeposit machines. The Bank also allows for free fund transfers to encourage parents to set aside funds from their own accounts to their children’s al Mazyona savings accounts.
