BankMuscat Hearts Team attends Offsite Management Programme

Muscat. 23 December 2007.
The BankMuscat Hearts team has recently participated in a three-day Offsite Management Programme at Jabal Al Akhdhar, organised by Bin Tamman Modern Enterprises (BTME) in association with High Places, India, a specialised company in corporate training in the outdoors. The progarmme was the first of its kind in the Sultanate, which was uniquely designed to enhance team work and leadership skills through a set of activities.

Eleven members of the BankMuscat Hearts team participated in this outdoor programme, which proved to be beneficial, full of fun, challenge, adventure and excitement.

Sulaiman Al-Harthy, Deputy General Manager - Consumer Banking, BankMuscat, said:

“At BankMuscat Hearts, we sincerely believe that true benefit to society can only happen through the meaningful partnership of various interested bodies, be they corporate organizations, non-government institutions or concerned individuals. Such courses, we believe, help members of our Hearts team truly appreciate this, besides providing them with the opportunity to discover each others' strings better."

Inshirah Al Barwani, a member of BankMuscat Hearts team who participated in the programme, said:

“The programme helped me to discover my maximum potential. It provides personal development opportunity. It gave me something that I couldn’t learn in a classroom - greater respect for myself and my abilities. I thank BankMuscat for providing us with such learning opportunities.”

The outdoor management development programme is based on the philosophy of empirical learning. It has been proven through research that retention is higher when learning through experiences. The programme included: Building effective teams, enhancing leadership, fostering personal awareness, managing change and creating and communicating vision.

BTME-High Places has 22 years of experience in the field of outdoor training and 18 years of experience in conducting outdoor-based management development programmes.

BankMuscat Hearts is an internal charity drive initiative that is responsible for raising funds and supporting various social causes through the engagement of BankMuscat employees, so as to build a culture of voluntary work. The objective of BankMuscat Hearts is to find ways to ‘give back to society’ - poor families, the needy, the unwell and even the environment, by way of physical and financial contributions. BankMuscat Hearts plans to continue to conduct charity and social activities throughout the year. BankMuscat Hearts will continue to develop their leadership skills to better reach out and help the society.
