BankMuscat Hearts Scale New Heights
Muscat.
29 September 2007: BankMuscat Hearts scaled
the heights of success when they decided to
raise funds in a rather innovate venture. They
organised a charity climb atop their head office
building at Ruwi. Six professional rock climbers
accompanied by five members of BankMuscat Hearts
team successfully scaled the 40 meters tall
BankMuscat building on 6 September.

This
endeavour was a step towards raising funds for
charity. The dare-devil climbers, helped to
raise funds to provide essential commodities,
clothing and food to the needy during the holy
month of Ramadhan. The adventurers split up into
two teams for the climb, with one team climbing
down the building and one climbing up. After a
lot of hard work and great determination, all
were successful in completing the challenge.
Encouraging the spectacle from below the
building were the Omani traditional band of
Razha, bank staff, bank customers and other
bystanders who supported BankMuscat Hearts team
to raise funds. Attendees had the opportunity to
win many gifts through a raffle draw. BankMuscat
customers remarked that the event was unique,
interesting and unusual.
Speaking about the BankMuscat Hearts initiative,
Sulaiman Al-Harthy, Deputy General Manager -
Consumer Banking, BankMuscat, said:
“We at BankMuscat Hearts aim to support the
needy through involving our employees and
customers by organising such events. I am
delighted that we gained so much support from Dr
Khaled and his team, as well as the public who
attended the event. I enjoyed watching the
dare-devil climbers. There was a real feeling of
team spirit as they battled their way to and
from the top of the building.”
Yassir Ruqishi, BankMuscat Hearts member and one
of the climbers, commented on this unusual
experience saying:
“The practice sessions helped me to overcome
my uneasiness about my first climbing experience
we had and made me abseil the BankMuscat head
office building with joy.”
Dr Khalid, professional climber, commented
saying:
“Outdoor climbing can be a very rewarding
activity. I encourage whoever has an interest to
try it with friends who know how to climb or are
willing to learn. I am pleased to be part of
this event that helped in raising funds for
charity.”
The BankMuscat Hearts movement started in the
second half of 2006. There are currently
twenty-five young employees from across
different departments and branches of the Bank
who have come together to successfully form the
BankMuscat Hearts team.
