BankMuscat’s Commitment… Empowering Dreams

Muscat, 09 July 2007: For the past few weeks BankMuscat’s 25th anniversary customer convoy has been touring Oman’s countryside and touching the hearts of people. The convoy, which was flagged off by H.E. Hamoud Sangour Al Zadjali, Executive President, Central Bank of Oman, Sheikh AbdulMalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman, BankMuscat and other senior dignitaries of the Bank in April this year, has now reached the middle of its journey having traversed the regions of Batinah, Dhahirah, Dhakliya & Sharqiya.

When asked about the vision behind the customer convoy, Sulaiman Al Harthy, DGM Consumer Banking, BankMuscat, said:

“To celebrate our 25th year we decided to do something special: touch the minds and hearts of as many people as possible nationwide. And what better way to do this than to go to the people ourselves. After all, we would like to believe that we are the people’s bank. Our aim is to help people help realize their dream.”

One of the ways in which the bank is trying to touch people, is to share with them details of their popular al Mazyona savings scheme, baituna home loans and current credit card offerings and how they may benefit from the same.

Speaking on the Bank’s flagship consumer product, Mr Sulaiman said:

“Al Mazyona is our flagship consumer banking product, and is without a doubt, the leading savings deposit product in the country today. Over the past 15 years, Al Mazyona has touched and changed over 1 million lives allowing them to purchase homes, provide for education, start a business of their own or save for a rainy day. This, as the nation’s leading bank, is an integral part of our efforts to give back to society and to inculcate the savings habit amongst people nationwide.”

To ensure people get to experience a taste of the excitement around the draws, the BankMuscat team manning the customer convoy have so far held al Mazyona draws at Barka Souq, Nizwa Souq and Sinaw Souq. The draws, which were conducted by the Wali and representatives from the Majlis A’Shura council, attracted a lot of interest from people across the regions. The convoy is now proceeding to Dhofar, where it shall remain for the entire duration of the Khareef festival.

The al Mazyona draw is the first prize draw in Oman to be independently audited by global consulting firm, Ernst & Young. It promises account holders a number of unique benefits: account holders who maintain a minimum weekly balance of RO 100 get a chance to win one of the weekly prizes of RO 1000; account holders who maintain a monthly minimum balance of RO 3000, get a chance to win RO 20,000 every month; and all account holders who have maintained minimum monthly balance of RO 3000 for the past 6 months get a chance to win RO 100,000 every alternate month as a recognition for their loyalty to the Bank. Additionally all account holders who maintain a monthly minimum balance of RO 3000 get a free personal accident insurance cover up to RO 10,000 as a measure of protection by the Bank.

Along its eventful journey the customer convoy has also shared details of the Bank’s Home Finance solutions branded under the baituna banner. BankMuscat’s baituna suite of products, which were launched at the beginning of last year comprises of baituna Classic Home Finance, baituna Gold Home Finance and baituna Plus Home Finance. The baituna suite of products are available for purchase & construction of homes for first-time buyers; purchases of second homes or retirement homes; and also for purchase of land for residential use at selected locations. Financing is offered primarily to Omani nationals, though the suite of products also provides financing options for GCC nationals and expatriates who wish to seek housing finance for properties in the Sultanate. The Bank also provides refinancing options to customers with existing housing loans from other organizations.

Additionally, the Bank’s customer convoy personnel have also been sharing details of BankMuscat’s 25th Anniversary refer and win promotion to people nationwide, wherein customers have the unique opportunity of winning two Lexus cars as a result of their either availing of a series of products – including al Mazyona and baituna – during the campaign period or referring any of their friends to avail of the same. The promotion has naturally drawn a lot of attention with many customers availing of the Bank’s newly launched Hayatuna Family Protection plan or applying for a new credit card, which also makes them eligible to enter the draw.
